Thank You 2018!

2018 you have been one hell of a ride!

It’s been a fun and exhilarating year of successes, failures and as always growth from the valley!

After a 7 year vision of having a women’s conference, I decided to not only jump over the hurdle of fear but bulldoze it over! The conference was held in October 2018 in Ontario to a sold out crowd of amazing women from all over Ontario!

Each year I set goals to challenge myself, maintain my appetite for learning and reading as well as have a HUGE goal for something that literally scares me to my core!

For 2019, I have decided to take my Women’s Self-Care conference to Calgary and Nova Scotia. I am passionate to continue to share my message to women across Canada that Self-Care Is Not Selfish!

My “why” comes from a story….There’s always a story. I have worked in the insurance industry since 1990. I have helped so many women on short-term disability claims for stress, chronic fatigue, Type II diabetes, hypertension….unfortunately, this list can go on….you get the picture!

I was hungry to get ahead of the ‘diagnosis’ curve. To really help women with compensatory strategies to have work-life balance. The word balance comes with such negative connotation so I renamed this life element to work-life integration. What I’ve realized over the past 7 years is that integration cannot be achieved without self-care as it’s truly the foundation for everything.

Self-Care every damn day. No guilt, shame or fear. Letting go of generational beliefs. Allowing yourself to be who you are and live in the moment with what you like to do. This is freeing especially when you don’t worry about what others will think about you.

It’s imperative to take the time each day (one hour minimum) to honor the five elements of Self-Care:

  1. Physical
  2. Psychological
  3. Emotional
  4. Spiritual
  5. Work/Professional
  6. Within the five elements you manage and honor:

  1. Stress
  2. Nutrition
  3. Sleep
  4. Connection
  5. Physical Activity
  6. Kindness
  7. Spirituality

Does this equation of time management change or evolve depending on the day? YES! Life will happen, however, you have to maintain “you” in all that is thrown your way. The cliché “you can’t pour from an empty cup” really means that you need to self-audit you and your activities. If you keep running on ’empty’ you will eventually break one if not all the five elements. Maintaining your self-elements is the key to serving yourself and living a healthy, integrated life.

This year, I have continued to coach women from all over the globe and they all have one thing in common. All these women have huge goals accompanied with insight yet fear to execute. It stems from their habits of thinking. Most women are exhausted and overextended and there is a large fear component to move forward. This derives from many different sources including life experiences.

Entrepreneurs are truly vivid visionaries! We have so many great ideas. They remain ideas until you take the time to ACT and EXECUTE! I call this ‘squirrel’ mode. You are busy, yet not productive or engaged in revenue generating activities.

My background is in neuroscience. I love offering an assessment that scientifically measures your habits of thinking. Understanding how and more importantly ‘why’ you think about thinking. Completely metacognition at it’s best! Easy to explain and measurable! We need a baseline to start and that’s how we grow!

If you are seriously ready to breakthrough and walk into 2019 and stop the habits that are no longer serving you or you are not where you want to be, then let’s chat.
